Do I have to change the title of my blog now?

Well, I have "officially" been in the Army for one year today... I guess I can say that it has gone by quickly... But does that mean that I am no longer a new nurse officer? I think I would like to hold on to that title a little longer, maybe six more months or so, until I pin on First Lieutenant. It is odd to think that next Saturday, a fresh new crop of LTs will commission at Santa Clara... Probably the most significant day in one's life, aside from getting married, or having a child.

Well, enough of the sentiment... On to other big news. I was going to wait, but those that know me know that I have a hard time keeping news to myself... I have officially been assigned to the 86th Combat Support Hospital, out of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. I will remained stationed here at Ft. Benning until the 86th CSH gets mobilized, which will be sometime down the road. Crazy to think that I might be spending my 30th birthday downrange somewhere...

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to get a mini-vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida. And it turned out to be a much bigger treat than I expected... The boy reserved us a suite at the Bay Point Marriott and had breakfast delivered to the room both mornings. In addition, he even tried to book me a spa appointment, but it just wasn't in the cards that weekend. Regardless, we had such a good time, it was ridiculous. We slept in both mornings, hung out at the beach, hung out by the pool, shopped for corny souvenirs, and were just lazy in general. Neither of us wanted to go home on Sunday, but alas, he had PT Monday morning, and I was on-call for work as well. It was a wonderful weekend... To give you an idea of how beautiful the view was...

The fun continued on Thursday night when Kim, Rosie, Tas and I went to comedy night at The Loft. Well, Kim and I made it for the comedy, but Rosie and Tas got off work late, so they met us for drinks after the show. We always have such a good time out, but Thursday night was especially fun, because there were some douchebag Infantry LTs out that night that asked Rosie if she was in high school, so I promptly set them straight and made them feel as stupid as they made themselves look. It was great. Subsequently, Tas and Rosie then relived senior prom...

So the boy doesn't really go out downtown that much, because, well, it sucks... However, his favorite Columbus band, Seven Zero Six, was playing at The Vault last night, so we decided to venture out to see them. Well, it turned out that the band's lead singer has had laryngitis for the past two nights... To make a long story short, both the dude that was singing with them and the set list sucked, so we decided to peruse Broadway in search of something else... Then we saw a banner for Pipers Down, another great Columbus band, playing at The Tap, so we headed in to check it out. For some unknown reason, only half of the band was playing last night... Needless to say, after $40 for the cab, and $40 in drinks and cover, we were thoroughly disappointed with our evening out. Oh well, maybe next time...

Well, that is about it for now. Stay tuned for your local news and weather...

66H out...
