Erin go Braugh...

Wow, it has been awhile since my last post... Things have been quite busy around here. Let's see...

St. Patrick's Day would be the first place to start... Rosie and I went to Scruffy Murphy's and hung out with Jason, a friend of hers. We started talking and actually hit it off pretty well, but in the end, it turned out to be a terribly ill-fated attempt at a relationship for me... Actually quite laughable, but for the best (He was not someone I should be dating anyways, but fun, so fun). Moving on... it was so crazy at the bar, so many Joes and jerks out that night. We saw this guy that was hitting on anything that moved, including myself and Rosie. He was actually pretty funny, but totally drunk and a little obnoxious. I had to get a picture of him for posterity's sake... What he is doing in this picture, I am not sure, but he was willing to pose for us...

I think I worked almost 50 hours the week after St. Patty's Day, so I was totally exhausted all week and don't remember too much, except how exhausted I was...

On the 24th, we had the MEDDAC Dining In, where I was chosen as the "most expendable officer to taste the food," to ensure the mess wasn't poisoned... Luckily, I was okay... It was such a good time, and my Major doctor friend was there, making it a point to come and talk to me at Social Hour and continued to look at me all evening... We'll see how that pans out. At left is my friend Maggie and I at the Ward 6AB table. Look at how sharp we are in our Dress Blues!

On Saturday, the day after the Dining In, I went to a going away party for a nurse friend of mine that works on our floor. We had such a good time going out to dinner and then partying at Oxygen. If I get the pictures from another LT that was there, I will post a couple, they are great!

Again, I am working almost 50 hours this week, and it has been a rough week so far... So rough that I ate 3/4 of a pizza and drank a 25oz can of Fosters on Tuesday night when I got home from work... Jim came over and finished off the pizza, probably a good thing, or I would have eaten the rest of it... I know the sight of the uneaten crust is killing you Geoff... Ha-ha.

Even though I have to work at zero-dark-thirty tomorrow morning, a whole bunch of us are going to see some comedy tonight at The Loft, so I hope it is funny...

Well, you are now caught up on the last few weeks in the life of the LT out in Georgia...

Things I'm still too young for...

1. Owning a house
2. Having kids
3. Stocks and/or Mutual Funds
4. Acting my age
5. A "real" job (although the steady paycheck is nice...)
6. Going home from the bar before 1 am
7. Owning more than a place-setting for four
8. Saving every cent I make
9. A five-year wedding anneversary
10. The misses clothing section in Macy's

He shoots, he scores!!

Well, it was another weekend of Dan's drunken debauchery...Oooooh, that was some awesome alliteration... Dan slept in Jim's car last night and at about 7:30 this morning Dan decided to go back to his apartment, setting off Jim's car alarm for the whole complex to enjoy and then didn't bother to tell Jim, so his car alarm went off for nearly 20 minutes before it automatically turned off. I gave Dan a courtesy call, since Jim's car is parked right outside my window, and let him have it. I didn't feel too bad because he was being a drunken jerk to my friend Rosie last night.

The highlight of the weekend (before Dan's misbehavior at the bar) was the Columbus Cottonmouths hockey game last night... They beat down the Jacksonville Barracudas 7-1. We tailgaited before the game with some Westpointers that Dan knows (I actually in-processed on to post with Jay and Steve, and I went to OBC with Tracy, so I knew a few people) and then we were totally obnoxious during the game. It was such a good time... Earlier in the week, Jim and I met some of the players down at the pool, and we found out that all of the Cottonmouths live in our apartment complex, so we now have access to free tickets. We decided to make the hockey games a regular outing, since we had such a good time at the last few games. Look what a good time we're having (Dan was already kind of drunk, if you can't tell. Well, at least he is smiling, which was not the case later in the evening)...

Jim and Dan are going to be at Fort Stewart all week for Unit Movement Officer training, and both Jay and I were complaining about how bored we will be this week, so I think we will hang out a few times. He has a 10-week old puppy, Jackson, that is just the cutest thing on the face of the planet, so I think I will have to head over there a couple of times this week. I think that Dan, Jim, Jay and I are going to head up to Savannah for St. Patty's day on Friday. I have to work at 3pm on Saturday, so we'll see how that goes...

Well, if I am going to get my apartment clean, laundry done and go work out, I guess I'd better stop procrastinating and get to it...

I miss the Buca...

So I worked a very long 12-hour day today and I am ready for the next two days that I have off...

You might all be wondering about the title of my blog tonight... Well, today I took care of a soldier that is from Minneapolis, MN. For those of you that are not in the know, Buca opened its first restaurant there in 1993. As soon as he said he was from Minneapolis, I immediately asked him if he had ever eaten at the Buca... His eyes got big, he smiled and said "I miss Buca di Beppo so much, their food is awesome!" I said, "I know, I do too. I worked at the first Buca out in California while I was in school." He asked me if it was just the coolest place to work, and I said, "You know, it was one of the best jobs I ever had. It was fun most of the time, and I miss my friends there." I guess I can't help but not, I spent the better part of five years inside those walls. So, as a tribute to the Buca and table 14 (better known as the best table in the house, according to Michael)...

Okay enough sentiment for one evening... Oh goodness, I have the cutest kitten looking up at me, very patiently waiting for me to get off of the computer and pay her some quality attention... I guess I'd better go, I was gone for 14 hours today. To be continued...

Groundhog day...

So the whole week has been absolutely the same every single day... I promised myself that I was going to get up at 10 every morning to work out before going to work at 3, but ended up waking up at noon, dragging myself around for an hour, getting in the shower, then going to work. When I got to work, the same two LPN's were sitting in the report room in the same exact spot, every single day. Oh man, I felt like Bill Murray... Except, I'm the girl version.

Work was crazy every day this week... So many broken ankles, it's not even funny. I didn't get out of work on time all week. Speaking of work, I am applying for a part-time teaching position at a local community college LPN program, so I am quite excited about that. I am not sure where they are going to use me yet, but I could be hired as a Clinical Instructor and have students in a hospital setting, or be teaching in the nursing skills lab. I feel like this will be a good opportunity to give back to the community college system, help people learn, and improve my own skills in the process.

Moving on to the egocentric part of my blog... I use to be a kitchen internet appliance!

The Audrey web appliance by 3Com

The Audrey is a delightful web appliance made and sold by 3Com in the 2000-2001 period of the late dotcom boom. Meant to be the proverbial "kitchen computer" the Audrey is easy to use, comes on by touching anything (keyboard, screen, knobs) and is instantly on the net. When 3Com was acquired by Cisco, the Audrey was a casualty. (When it came out, my dad found an advertisement for it in a magazine, tore it out and gave it to me. When I unpacked my household goods, I found it!!)

Well, that is it for the week... I am off to go drink my coffee, NOT watch the Real Word: Key West anymore, and read my new David Foster Wallace book...
