Head Nurse Course and other randomness...

So, the month of January flew by in the blink of an eye! Busy at work and trying just as hard to play. The two notable highlights of the month were my weekend trip to California to see family and friends (which went way too fast as always) and the Head Nurse Leadership Development course in San Antonio.

I made the sad realization that it was finally time to sell the BMW... My first car that never let me down and was always so fun to drive. Unfortunately, with some of the big dollar plans that Michael and I have for the next few years, it doesn't leave much left over to give the Beemer the monetary attention it needs to get it running in tip-top shape. My mom mentioned that someone she knew had asked her if it was for sale multiple times, and I guess I took it as a sign that it needed a new home with people that would love it, take care of it, and drive it. I won't lie... It was absolutely cathartic to sign the sale contract, hand the pink slip over, and watch the tow truck take it away. The empty spot it left in the driveway was hard to look at every time I walked out the back door. As an aside to that, Monte (one of my cats) was very confused when he saw that it was gone for the first time... It was actually quite amusing to watch his reaction! My mom and I got a great laught out of it, so that lightened the mood a little.

On a happier note, I got to see several people that I haven't seen in a long time while I was home. I had coffee with my wonderful friend Elisa and got to catch up on all of the happenings in our lives over the past few years. I also got to see my bestie Danielle and little (now huge) peanut, as well as Jen, my up-and-coming political PR genius friend! Additionally, we had a great family dinner with almost all of my cousins. I love getting to see how much Alex and Landon grow and change... They are way to smart for their own good, but just as sweet as they could come!

After that, I spent a harried week at work trying to prepare for the 2-week Head Nurse course in San Antonio... And now, I sit here in the hotel room, procrastinating packing after the close of the course, thinking about everything that I need to start doing as a Head Nurse once I get back to El Paso. I learned that there are so many things that I didn't know I needed to know! I guess I just need to make a list of all of the things I need to do and get going... Easier said than done!

Anyhow, I will be in San Antonio for a few more days visiting with a couple of friends, and then it will be back in the car, and back on the road to El Paso! And now, I am off to pack and check out of the hotel.

66HM5 out...
